“We need to continue to invest and improve our fan experience in Falcon Stadium. There is a lot of competition out there for entertainment dollars, and there is a lot of expectation in our fan base in what they’re seeing in other venues, so we need to make sure we continue to be relevant from an experiential standpoint every bit as much as we want to be competitive and win games on the field.”
Transforming an Academy icon
The Kucera Legacy Center at Falcon Stadium opened for the fall 2024 football season, transforming the game-day experience for thousands of fans.
Give nowThe state-of-the-art Kucera Legacy Center, which opened in the fall of 2024, builds on Falcon Stadium's reputation as an iconic venue for the Air Force Academy, the state of Colorado and college sports enthusiasts. The stadium is hallowed ground for Academy cadets, graduates and supporters alike. During its six decades of use, the facility has played host to countless regional events, Academy athletic competitions and the all-important USAFA graduation ceremony, which caps a cadet’s rigorous four-year Academy experience.
Creating first –
and lasting – impressions
“Falcon Stadium is an Air Force Academy showcase. It’s what everyone sees as you’re going along I-25; it truly is the front porch to the Air Force Academy.” – Head Coach Troy Calhoun ’89

The modernization of Falcon Stadium — through the Kucera Legacy Center and more — is the largest athletic investment in the history of the Air Force Academy. The rejuvenated facility, opened in the fall of 2024, is a world-class event venue open year-round.
Named in honor of Jack '78 and Vianne Kucera, the Kucera Legacy Center pays homage to Academy heritage while offering experiences befitting a 21st-century event venue. Updates to the stadium will increase revenues, which will directly impact the experience of 1,000+ cadets each year.
The improved facility will also boost recruiting of high-caliber and service-minded athletes who can take USAFA football and lacrosse teams to new heights. And an improved game day experience — including more comfortable seating and an array of high-quality concession options — keeps fans returning for future contests and other events.

game day experience
Designed by industry leaders HKS Inc., the same architecture firm that orchestrated the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium and the Los Angeles Rams’ SoFi Stadium, the renovation and modernization of the east side of Falcon Stadium has created an inspiring focal point for Academy sports fans, visitors and others.
It includes:
- a dramatic new stadium entrance
- a heritage plaza that will provide inspiration while honoring the legacy of the institution and its graduates
- an updated event space
- improved seating, concessions areas, restrooms and a merchandise area
- a new banquet club that boasts indoor seats and a modern, industrial kitchen.
In addition, the tunnel on the north end of the stadium has been expanded to improve field access for larger vehicles. The expansion enables delivery of equipment and staging pieces for larger events that will attract a new level of entertainment for the residents of southern Colorado.

“. . . when you see the aircraft static displays, that wing-like overhang on the east side, the reseating of the cadets that puts them in prominent view every time you’re playing on national TV, and most of all the blue of Falcon Stadium, you’re going to know exactly where you are.”
