Biography

Romanita “Cenia” Miller (Vargas) is a graduate of the class of 1998, fulfilling her childhood dream of attending the Academy and becoming an Air Force officer. Cenia is a proud Dominator and RTB as well as a USAFA Prep School grad, currently living in Colorado Springs, CO.  After graduation, she became a Communications Officer at the Pentagon with a follow-on to Joint Staff. Cenia was in the Pentagon on Sept 11, and she was back in the Pentagon as it burned on Sept 12, ensuring Air Force communications went uninterrupted. Upon separating, she became a government civilian working for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) within the National Capital Region, continuing to proudly serve her country. She is still with DIA serving in a leadership role as the Desktop Environment Integrated Program Office Chief.  Cenia continues to support USAFA and its mission by opening her home as a cadet sponsor and volunteering at AOG sponsored events - Heritage Trail/I-day and Prep School meet/greets. She is an USAFA football season ticket holder and enjoys cooking, traveling and time with friends and family – to include her husband Roger (retired Air Force), son-Roman and daughter-Shayla (aspiring future cadet) and two Vizslas – Captain and Whiskey.

Candidacy Statement

I am a proud Alumna of the Class of 1998 and I have an unyielding passion to see USAFA continue to progress and do great things for and with its' Preppies, Cadets and Alumni. I have served in the military and as a government civilian for over 26 years and am a certified Facilitator, enabling me to actively listen and encourage participation/creativity during Board meetings and ad-hoc conversations. I have managed million-dollar contracts and developed/executed multi-million dollar spend plans for various Department of Defense programs throughout the last 20 years of my career. I have the time and flexibility to attend AOG board meetings and am an advocate of networking and leveraging personal contacts to accomplish a positive end goal. I believe in being properly informed on a proposal/discussion before making any decisions or casting a vote and will advocate or dissent as appropriate. I look forward to the opportunity to serve USAFA Alumni-past, present and future.
