Erin Staine-Pyne Class Of 1998
Biography
Colonel Erin Staine-Pyne is the Deputy Chief of Staff at United States Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command. Prior to her current role she served as a Senior Military Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Colonel Staine-Pyne was born in West Point, New York. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy. While at USAFA, she was the Captain of the Women’s Soccer Team, a centurion, and proud RTB.
After USAFA, she served in a variety of flying positions including as a Weapons Officer in the C- 130E/H and Instructor Pilot in the C-17A. She has held key staff positions, including as the Senior Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of the Air Force. Colonel Staine-Pyne served as Commander, 62 Airlift Wing, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. She attended the National War College, earning a Master’s Degree in National Security Strategy and the University of Colorado, Denver, earning a Master’s in Public Administration. She is married to USAFA classmate, Frank, and has one daughter, Elliott.
Candidacy Statement
I’m excited to throw my hat in the ring for the Association of Graduates Board! As a proud USAFA alum, I’m passionate about giving back to the institution and community that helped shape me. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how strong the connection is between grads, and I’d love to strengthen that bond even more.
I bring significant leadership experience from my 26+ year military career, along with a deep love for our shared values and traditions. I’m focused on keeping us connected—whether it’s through mentoring young grads, preserving our history, or helping boost career networks. Plus, I’ve got some ideas to engage both older and younger grads to ensure our association thrives for years to come.
I’m ready to serve and look forward to the chance to represent our amazing community. I promise to work hard to ensure we have a top-notch alumni association.
