Why Give to the aog?

The Academy experience was a major turning point in the lives of its graduates. We credit much of our success to the education, training, values and sense of honor that were developed at the Academy. The cadet experience instilled in us the importance of integrity (first), service (before self) and excellence (in everything we do).

There are more than 4,000 young men and women who walk the terrazzo today with the dream of serving their nation and continuing the proud tradition of those who have gone before them. Providing the Air Force and nation with powerful leaders of character who are more than equal to the challenges of the 21st century remains the ultimate goal of the Academy and the AOG.

There are also now more than 40,000 graduates across the nation and around the world. The AOG seeks to provide information and social and service opportunities to graduates and to connect them with each other and the Academy. The AOG is here to record the legacy of the Long Blue Line and promote Academy heritage.

Now more than ever, the AOG needs the support of all graduates, parents and friends of the Academy who cherish the Academy and its values. Many of these supporters are choosing to make financial contributions to help the AOG enhance the institution that changed their lives.

Why does the AOG need private support?

The AOG is a private, not-for-profit Colorado corporation funded by private donations, dues and service fees. The ability of the AOG to serve the Academy and the graduate community is dependent upon the generosity of graduates, parents and others who love the Academy.

Contrary to popular belief, the United States Air Force Academy doesn't receive all the federal funding it would like to have. Federal support is limited. The Air Force and government provide adequate funding to the Academy for the core programs - the baseline requirements needed to earn a bachelor of science degree and a commission as second lieutenant. Private funding from graduates, parents and friends of the Academy is crucial to maintaining the excellence of the Air Force Academy experience and for building leaders of character for the nation. By supporting the AOG, you help the AOG fulfill its mission.
