Areas of need
This is an historic era for the United States Air Force Academy.
The new century offers significant new challenges to accomplishing the Academy mission. Constrained federal funding, intense competition for the best and brightest students, and preparing our graduates to lead in an increasingly complex, technologically sophisticated, and morally ambiguous world are hurdles the Academy faces now and in the future.
Areas of support (broken down into five key areas):
The federal government and the Air Force will continue to provide adequate funding for the Academy's core programs - those baseline requirements needed to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree and a commission in the Air Force. Academy leadership will continue to be proactive at government levels to ensure funding for the core. We must supplement federal funds with private contributions to create new or enhance existing programs, are shaping cadets into our country's future leaders. Private support will provide each cadet a richer academic, military and athletic experience beyond the basic requirements provided by the government.
The areas of support set forth will establish new levels of excellence and can only be made possible through private contributions. With the help of senior Academy leadership, the Association of Graduates has identified five areas in need of private funding in order to provide opportunities for our cadets to gain valuable experiences that will shape them into outstanding leaders.
