AFA Parents Weekend:
A Parent/Cadet Event Just For You!
Sunday, September 2, 2012
10:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.
From your neighbors at the Western Museum of Mining & Industry, we invite you for a day of quality family time.
On Sunday, September 2, 2012, the museum will bring our world-class technical history collection to life just for Air Force Academy Cadets and their Parents!
Come on over at 10:00 (10:00 a.m.), or at 13:00 (1:00 p.m.) and experience it all: Our 19th and 20 century steam engines will rumble to life; you'll hear the shrill whistle of an Osgood steam shovel; and watch a trammer speed down the rail!
Top it off with learning to gold pan, and by taking a tour of our hard rock gold mining process. Afterward, you'll have a terrific foundation of knowledge on which to build your new Colorado experience.
Bring a picnic lunch, and enjoy some quality family time before the academic year starts. Admission for this special event is only $6 per person (a box lunch with sandwich is available for the additional cost of $11 each with reservations by Friday, August 31st).
We are located just east of the Academy's North Gate, off I-25 at exit 156A. We can be reached with a phone call on 719.488.0880, or by email at: rsvp@wmmi.org. For information about the museum's other operating hours please visit: http://www.wmmi.org/visitors.
